It takes a diverse group of people to provide the many types of disability and youth supports we offer at MADEC. In this series we chat with our staff about their roles and spotlight some of the friendly faces in our team! For our fifth instalment, we had a chat with our new Strategic Quality Manager, Bernhardette Lishman.

What does your role as Strategic Quality Manager involve?

My position encompasses two primary functions. First, I ensure that our workforce is equipped with the appropriate training, procedures, and policies necessary to deliver high-quality, person-centred support. Secondly, I am committed to fostering safe, caring, and nurturing environments in which our participants and young people can grow and achieve their individual aspirations and goals.

What do you love about the work that you do?

Working in this sector is fulfilling as it allows me to make a meaningful and positive impact in our local community. This work cultivates a sense of humility and gratitude, as I have the opportunity to meet remarkable individuals who, despite facing adversity and challenges, continue to strive for the best quality of life.

What motivated you to work in the disability and youth support sector?

This sector provides me the opportunity to develop my skills, build relationships and experience the profound satisfaction that comes from helping others thrive.

What is one thing people might not know about you?

I am an avid gamer and love to play Call of Duty in my spare time!
