Today is International Friendship Day and at MADEC we are celebrating the friendship of our NDIS participants and housemates, Abby and Megan.
Abby and Megan met in 2022, due to Megan requiring crisis accommodation after her Supported Independent Living (SIL) house closed down. Abby was initially reluctant to welcome a new housemate, agreeing initially to only 4 weeks. However an unexpected friendship blossomed, and now the pair are inseparable, spending many hours listening to music and watching movies and TV shows together.

Abby has also taken on a protective role in Megan’s life, telling others “she is loud but she can’t help it — let her play!” We think that’s what true friendship is all about — embracing another person for who they are in their entirety! Happy International Friendship Day Abby and Megan — here’s to many more years of friendship!
Supported Independent Living with MADEC
At MADEC we can assist with a range of Supported Independent Living needs, including transition planning, applying for SIL through the NDIS, and of course, finding suitable housemates. If you’d like to discuss SIL, get in touch with us today.
